Carl Froch blames volcano for his loss to Mikkel Kessler
Written by Thomas Clausen Thursday, 29 April 2010 13:14

Wow, can you believe it? After his sorry loss to Mikkel Kessler of Denmark, Carl Froch seems to have lost his sanity. After the fight, Froch told Danish media that he could not get to Denmark on time because of the volcano. He said he started relaxing and lost focus, and that caused his defeat. I have three words for you Carl: "What a lame excuse!" That's four words or something but it's still a very lame excuse. Why couldn't Carl be man enough to accept defeat? Well, if he has indeed gone crazy after getting his first loss against a far superior fighter like Kessler, I feel very sorry for Carl.
Aside from the volcanic eruption, Froch also blamed his ear injury for the loss. He said his ear got damaged so he could not keep his balance. So what caused the damage to his ear? Maybe it was because of this pre-fight statement from Kessler: "Jeg glæder mig over at Froch endelig har besluttet at dukke op. Måske er han lidt bange? Jeg ved ikke om jeg er ligeglad, jeg vil bare gerne slå ham ud på lørdag for at sikre mig mine første tre point i turneringen. (I am glad that Froch has finally decided to show up. Maybe he is a little scared. I don't know and I don't care. I will knock him out on Saturday to secure my first three points of the tournament)". These kinds of strong words don't only damage your ears, they also get deep inside your brain, and they cause you to lose your balance. This kind of weapon along with very strong punches make your opponents wobble throughout the fight -- just like what happened to Carl Froch.
I can't blame Carl for the crazy things that he said. In fact, I pity him. I wish him good luck, and I hope there are good mental institutions in London to accomodate him.
