Nonito Donaire destroys Fernando Montiel in 2 rounds!

Nonito Donaire Jr. beats Fernando Montiel

Nonito Donaire Jr. (26-1, 18 KOs) of the Philippines smashed Fernando Montiel (44-3-2, 34 KOs) of Mexico in the 2nd round of their bantamweight championship fight before a very lively crowd at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. Donaire snatched the WBC and WBO bantamweight titles.

Both fighters were quite cautious and appeared to be feeling each other during the first round. In the second round, Donaire landed a devastating left hook right on the chin that sent Montiel down -- the same killer left hook that knocked out Vic Darchinyan in 2007.

Montiel was twitching for a couple of seconds, and then got up but fell again, and finally stood up after barely beating the referee's count. The referee allowed the fight to continue, but was forced to finally stop it after only a few seconds when Donaire came charging and hit Montiel who froze helplessly in the corner.
