Pacquiao beats yet another weight-drained opponent
Written by Miguel Perez Sunday, 14 November 2010 04:01

Manny Pacquiao defeated Antonio Margarito of Mexico via a 12 round unanimous decision at the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas Texas. The super welterweight boxing match with a limit of 154 pounds was fought at another catchweight of 150 pounds. Margarito, looking very tired, weak and dehydrated could barely respond to Pacquiao's hit-and-run cowardly tactics. With the win, Pacquiao has won his 8th championship belt in as many divisions.
Margarito appeared to be very thin as if he had not eaten for days prior to the fight. If it was the Margarito who fought and pummeled Cotto to submission a couple of years ago, it would have been a different story. Pacquiao really made all demands that would give him all the advantage in this fight -- catchweight and size of gloves, among others. This only proves one thing: Pacquiao is only good when fighting handicapped opponents.
I hope this is going to be his last fight because I don't want to see him fighting catchweight bouts again in the future. But if he continues to fight, moves up in weight, and wins his 9th world title in the middleweight division, I'm still not going to be impressed as we know that those are just paper titles. He won't be fighting the best challenge in that division anyway. I don't think Pacquiao would be willing to be pitted against tough fighters with the caliber of Sergio Martinez.
