Paulie Malignaggi: "Amir Khan is going to get knocked out"
Written by Ranjit Kumar Sunday, 09 May 2010 04:52

Pillow-fisted former IBF light welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (27-3, 5 KOs) is promising to knockout WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (22-1, 16 KOs) on May 15th at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Malignaggi, a loud-mouth from Bronx, New York, is known for his trashtalking. He exaggerates things everytime he talks, and I think 11 out of 10 things that he says are not true. I wouldn't have given a damn of what he said if he wasn't fighting Amir Khan, who himself is famous for being having a glass chin.
Talking about exaggeration, I think Paulie hits so lightly that he couldn't even kill a fly with his strongest punch. But I also think that Amir's chin is so weak that even the mildest wind blow can knock him out. "Amir Khan is going to get knocked out next Saturday night -- I promise you. You have my word on that. Amir Khan is going to get stopped next Saturday. I don't think I've ever had a dislike for an opponent more than I have for this guy. The arrogance this kid has coming into this fight is a little bit too much now. I think he's been misinformed. I think he thinks he's been fighting at a world class level. I think he's been reading too much of his press.", Malignaggi said.
Malignaggi doesn't think Khan is a great fighter, and just consider him "decent". He also doesn't think that Khan is all that fast of a puncher either, saying "He tries so hard to be fast and that gives up on a lot of other things by trying to be so fast. If you're fast, you should come out fluid. You shouldn't have to get so stiff to throw punches and if you notice that's what Amir Khan does. You'll find out Saturday just how limited he is after what I do to him."
"I believe I'm the fast fighter. If I get hit on chin, I'm not going to wobble. If Amir Khan starts wobbling, I hope they have a pillow for him in the corner, because he's going to sleep. I'm going to enjoy sinking my punches into Khan. Some fights are just business, but not this one. I'm going to enjoy every punch I land.", he added.
This fight will be a toss-up for me, but I think I'm going to have to believe Paulie for the very first time in my entire life.
