What do Carl Froch and Floyd Mayweather Jr have in common?
Written by Thomas Clausen Thursday, 27 May 2010 04:43

While I was checking the Ring Magazine's updated P4P and divisional ratings, two boxers caught my attention -- Carl Froch and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Something came into my mind and I couldn't help but compare them. I realized that these two have some things in common. They are both boxing supestars in their respective countries. Froch is well-loved by ever-ecstatic fans in the UK and Mayweather in some parts of the US. The two are decent fighters with huge fanbase, and both of them know how to attract fans' attention by trashtalking their opponents.
But it seems that both of them are also spoiled brats. Like Floyd Mayweather Jr who is making bazillions of absurd demands to fight Manny Pacquiao, Carl Froch has his own version of absurdness. Froch doesn't want to fight Arthur Abraham outside of London, much less in Germany. Floyd's reason for not fighting Pacquiao is simple, he's scared to lose his zero-loss record, and that's very understandable. But Carl not wanting to fight Abraham, what is the point? Froch already lost his perfect record when he got beaten by a much superior boxer in Mikkel Kessler, so I don't see any reason for him to be scared.
It is also rumored that Mayweather doesn't want to fight outside of Las Vegas because he uses Xylocaine, a numbing agent used to temporarily prevent the user from feeling pain. This is very useful for a boxer like Floyd because he has brittle hands and they hurt when he throws more punches that he could naturally do. If this is one of Floyd's reasons, then what could be Carl's? Could it be that Froch is also using some kind of drugs which is legal in England but illegal elsewhere, hoping that it will give him some kind of advantage against his opponents?
If these rumors and speculations are true then screw both these guys as they are killing the sport. Both Carl Froch and Floyd Mayweather Jr. should retire from boxing right now. These kinds of athleters are disgrace to their family, country and sport. What boxing needs are true warriors who are willing to face the toughest challenges in the fairest level of competitions, not some shrewd businessmen who are insinuating that they are the best fighter but trying every dirty trick just to gain leverage over their opponents.
