Will Margarito cause Cotto to bleed to near-death again?
Written by Guillermo Pacheco Friday, 25 November 2011 08:06

On December 3, the long-awaited and highly-anticipated rematch between Antonio Margarito of Mexico and Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico will take place at the Madison Square Garden in New York City. After reviewing their first fight at least a couple of times, I believe that the result will not be so different this time. I can see Cotto literally bathing in his own blood again.
During their first fight in July 2008, Margarito beat Cotto to a pulp. The Puerto Rican tried to run for his life in the later rounds but ran out of gas and decided to take a knee in the eleventh round. After Margarito got caught applying hardened plasters in his hand wraps just before his fight against Shane Mosley, Cotto used every opportunity to let everyone know that Margarito cheated to beat him.
Of course Cotto cannot prove this allegation. There is no proof that Margarito used illegal handwraps against him. I am scratching my head because I find it funny that Cotto insists his ridiculous suspicion just so he will have another excuse when Margarito pummels him again. However, I can guarantee that Margarito will be watched very closely when he gets his hands wrapped for their second fight so Cotto won't be able to further use this very same excuse for his embarrassing loss on December 3.
I hope Cotto starts looking for a more credible excuse as part of his training because I can feel his worries for this fight. With all the excuses and accusations he had against Margarito, it would be absolutely tormenting for him to lose in that very same manner. Whether there are illegal hand wraps or none, Cotto will always succumb to Margarito's power and pressure. If Cotto loses again, I would melt with embarrassment for him.
